Painting Your Lake House? Colors To Consider

If you have recently purchased a lake house and are renovating it, you know that you have a big task on your hands. One thing that you may be dreading the most is painting it, probably because you hate trying to figure out the color scheme. With a lake house, you want it to be perfect—and that includes the colors on the walls.

Things can get incredibly tricky with paint, and many homeowners make mistakes when it comes to choosing the right color. As long as you do your research, though, you have nothing to worry about. Luckily, we have taken the hard work out of it for you and done the homework for you. Below is a popular color scheme right now for lake houses and suggestions on how to use the colors throughout the home.

  • Silver Strand – Master bedroom and bathroom
  • Topsail – Kid’s bedroom or guest bedroom
  • Boothbay Gray – Mudroom and back hall
  • Agreeable Gray – Basement, halls, and exercise room
  • Functional Gray – Kid’s bedroom or guest bedroom
  • Extra White – Living room walls, kitchen cabinets, mudroom cabinets, dining area/kitchen, and all trim
  • Neburyport Blue – wet bar cabinets and kid’s or guest’s bathroom cabinets
  • Blustery Sky – kitchen island and master bathroom cabinets
  • Light French Gray – laundry cabinets and any decorative cabinets (possibly in the kitchen)

If you notice, the kitchen island is a bold color compared to the rest of the cabinets in the kitchen. However, separating the island from the rest of the furniture in the kitchen can help it stand out. When you have a lot of white in a room, it is good to add a pop of color in the space to liven things up a bit.
